Partridge Green is a substantial village in the Adur Valley, situated about nine miles south of Horsham within the parish of West Grinstead. Historically, the settlement grew significantly following the arrival of the railway in 1861; although the station closed in the 1960s, the old trackbed now forms part of the Downs Link, a popular long-distance bridleway and cycle route connecting the North Downs Way with the coast at Shoreham. This gives the village a practical gateway into the surrounding Sussex countryside. Unlike many smaller hamlets nearby, it functions as a self-contained hub with a primary school, a traditional local pub, and a small but busy industrial estate that provides a surprising amount of local employment. The architecture is a mix of Victorian brickwork closer to the old station site and more modern development, all set against a backdrop of flat, fertile farmland and the winding River Adur to the west.
