Perched on the high ground above Camborne, Troon is a village defined by its granite roots and its expansive views toward the North Cornish coast. It grew primarily to serve the needs of the nearby Grenville and Condurrow mines, and that industrial heritage is still visible in the sturdy stone terraces and the surrounding engine houses that dot the landscape. Today, it functions as a self-contained community with its own primary school, a traditional pub, and a useful cluster of local shops that save the trip down the hill for everyday essentials. One of the best things about living here is the immediate access to the Great Flat Lode, a circular trail that is excellent for walking or cycling through the heart of the historic mining district. While it’s only a short drive or a steady walk into the main town for the railway station and supermarkets, Troon feels distinctively quieter and more rural, caught between the busy valley below and the wilder, wind-swept moorland of Carn Brea.
